Benefits Shifts 2016: Mental health of employees now seen as important as physical health
The study, of 300 pay, reward and employee benefit professionals in the UK, showed that nine in ten (89%) already offer staff counselling as a core benefit to some or all of their employees. This number is set to grow further – rising to 92.6% in 2016 and beyond.
Debi O’Donovan, partner at REBA, said it was encouraging to see employers placing such a huge focus on the mental health of their staff. “Stress and stress related absence is a huge problem for businesses that can take many forms and have a major impact on productivity, attendance and moral.
"By encouraging staff to talk openly and honestly – and offering support where required – encourages a more open culture where staff will be more willing to share problems and enable employers to better help them resolve issues before they become a major problem"
