Delivering an academic viewpoint on the subject Professor Perkins said organisations could better understand individuals through the digital traces they leave, and deliver a more relevant reward experience as a result. “With smart data we have the ability to dig down we can see the traces that we all leave. Let’s use our digital capacity to trace right back that thing that does make us all individual,” he said.

“If we are wanting to differentiate our offer in order to differentiate our organisations strategically,  then we’ve got to be prepared to maybe take some risks to move away from the average informed by that smart data, those electronic traces we are leaving,” he said.
