Pensions podcast series featuring M&S, Centrica and University of Lincoln

Like many other industries, the pensions landscape is in a state of flux as it adapts to the ongoing coronavirus crisis. To better understand how pensions are being affected as well as the ongoing trends and challenges REBA, in association with Scottish Widows, has bought together senior reward and pension professionals to produce a short series of podcasts.

1. Pensions and the coronavirus crisis

The impact of coronavirus will be felt not just as part of the immediate crisis, but also in the longer term as pension schemes and providers work hard to engage – or reengage – members with their retirement savings.

In this first podcast, Maggie Williams, content director at REBA, is joined by Joanne Fairbairn, head of pensions at Marks and Spencer and Robert Cochrane, retirement expert at Scottish Widows, to discuss the effect of coronavirus on pension schemes and providers, and how they are responding as a result.

2. Helping employees engage with pensions

Even without the impact of a global pandemic on individuals’ personal finances, encouraging employees to engage with pensions is a persistent challenge for employers, schemes and the wider pensions industry.

In this second podcast, Maggie Williams, content director of REBA, is joined by Ross Matthews, director of pensions and benefits Europe at Centrica and Robert Cochran, retirement expert at Scottish Widows, to explore approaches to engaging employees with pensions.

3. Pensions and financial wellbeing

In this final episode we explore how employers can integrate pensions into a wider financial wellbeing strategy, with insight from our speakers on how they have achieved this in their own organisations.

Maggie Williams, content director at REBA is joined by Joanne Fairbairn, head of pensions at Marks & Spencer, Ross Matthews, director of pensions and benefits Europe at Centrica, Ian Hodson, head of reward and deputy director of HR at University of Lincoln, and Robert Cochran, retirement expert at Scottish Widows.
