REBA Technology Survey 2017/18: Strong growth predicted in the use of data analytics

Although half of employers (52.2%) already use management information (MI) reports and analytics nine out of ten (89%) plan to become more involved with technology and MI or data.

The conclusions come from the REBA Technology Survey 2017/18, a poll of 212 reward and employee benefit specialists conducted by the Reward & Employee Benefits Association (REBA) in association with JLT Employee Benefits.

Although the survey showed good adoption of analytics already their sophistication is low. Only 6.8% are using data from their reward technology systems to produce advanced, predictive analytics, such as developing models that predict how benefit choices are likely to change over time due to workforce changes or market forces.

Debi O’Donovan, director at REBA, said that the results showed that more investment and focus is required. “Our research showed that while more than half of those surveyed are using simple analytics to drive what they do there is huge opportunity open to them from adopting more advanced analytics within their organisations,” she said.

“The study also showed that one in six of our respondents make no use of the data from their reward platforms whatsoever – truly a missed opportunity,” she said.
