February 2016's HR Outlook, produced in association with Workday, looks at HR’s current and future contribution to business performance by comparing the views of 143 HR and 152 non-HR leaders.

It looks at eight key areas – from employee well-being to performance management and technology. In this edition the report draws out five key insights about what the findings mean for HR as well as practical reflection points.

Key findings:

  • Cost management, talent management and increasing the agility and flexibility of organisations were key for 63%, 50% and 49% of organisations respectively.
  • Cost management and talent management were also the highest priorities for the future.
  • Non-HR leaders were sceptical as to the role of organisations’ HR or people strategies influence on future key priorities, with only 26% agreeing it was key.
  • For HR leaders looking to improve employee well-being organisation culture, opportunities for development and the opportunity to flex working arrangements were the key factors focussed on for more than a third of organisations.
  • A higher number of non-HR leaders (85%) recognised the impact of financial well-being on the ability of an employee to do their job when compared to HR leaders (73%).
