Video tutorial: Ally Antell on how Aviva is using emerging technology for employee wellbeing

Emerging technology is allowing employers to “supercharge” the wellbeing services that they offer to their staff, according to Ally Antell, head of client management and propositions at Aviva.

Presenting a case study into how Aviva is using emerging technology at the REBA Innovation Day he said that personal wellbeing was one of the biggest issues facing the country currently. “There is an increasing onus of employers to look after the wellbeing of their employees,” he said.

He said before Aviva launched its own wellbeing programme the company first defined what wellbeing actually meant and then looked at the scale of the wellbeing challenge.

The company created the Wellbeing at Aviva Heart, launched in May 2017, designed with three clear strategic aims in mind. “Have a really clear set of goals that you are trying to achieve with a wellbeing programme. Ours was around prevention, early intervention and learning more about our employees,” he said.

He talked through the company’s strategy and said that there was an always on element to wellbeing at Aviva. He also outlined how the company was making use of technology within wellbeing through initiatives such as its wellbeing app.

This video was recorded at the REBA Innovation Day 2018, held in London on 22 November.
