Video tutorial: How to harness the power of technology to improve reward

There are three key things reward practioners want technology to help with, according to Ruth Thomas, industry principal with Curo. They are performance, productivity and engagement.

“We want technology to help us identify who are our high performers in the organisation so that we can make sure we pay them competitively so that we can retain them. We want to make sure whatever reward programmes we deploy they help us to deliver on productivity and achieving business goals and that we can measure those tactics are doing that and we want reward technology to help us engage our employees,” she said.

Speaking at the REBA Reward Leaders’ Forum 2018 she outlined the latest trends in the HR software market and asked whether current technologies were meeting the needs she had outlined.

Today she said technology can help reward leaders be more productive – such as automating low value tasks and allowing them to focus on higher value tasks or outcomes as well as provide data for evidence linking reward to business performance.

She also outlined the impact of newer technology trends such as augmented reality, gamification and machine learning. “The important thing is not to be afraid of technology and understand that technology is not supposed to take the human out of resources,” she said.

This video was recorded at the REBA Reward Leaders’ Forum 2018 in London on 18 April 2018.
