Video tutorial: Why organisations need to think about environment and culture with wellbeing

Organisations need to think not just about the individual but also about the environment and culture when it comes to designing and implementing wellbeing programmes, according to Soraya Chamberlain, director of corporate healthcare and wellbeing at Punter Southall Health & Protection.

Speaking at the REBA Employee Wellbeing Congress 2017 Chamberlain said: "Wellbeing is not just about individuals. It's very easy to focus on programmes and initiatives that are focused on the individual but it's also important look at the environment and culture. You will limit the success of your wellbeing programme if these are not considered holistically," she said.

Companies need to look at culture from the top but also everything within the environment - from layout to demographics to putting in showers and bike racks to breakout areas to encourage people to move away from their desk and take time out from work. "A really good environment can have a really positive outcome for the business," she said.

Chamberlain unveiled the key steps for designing a wellbeing programme - including purpose, data, analysis, solution and review.

This video tutorial was recorded at the REBA Employee Wellbeing Congress 2017 which took place on 22 June 2017.
