Government papers: UK labour market: July 2018

The Office for National Statistics has released its latest Labour Force Survey figures for between December 2017 to February 2018 and March to May 2018.

  • The employment rate (the proportion of people aged from 16 to 64 years who were in work) was 75.7 per cent, the highest since comparable records began in 1971.
  • Average weekly earnings for employees in nominal terms (not adjusted for price inflation) increased by 2.7 per cent excluding bonuses, and by 2.5 per cent including bonuses, compared with a year earlier.
  • LAverage weekly earnings for employees in real terms (adjusted for price inflation) increased by 0.4 per cent excluding bonuses, and by 0.2 per cent including bonuses, compared with a year earlier.
