Research: Parental Leave Policy & Reward Benchmark 2019
Key findings
- More than three quarters of respondents offer enhanced maternity/adoption/surrogacy pay, while two thirds enhance paternity pay.
- 40% of respondents enhance their shared parental pay in some way.
- The best total package reported enables parents of any gender and any parenting role to take 26 weeks’ fully paid leave followed (for maternity/adoption or shared parental leave) with 13 weeks statutory pay as applicable.
- Employers are using other ways to retain new parents, including: phased returns, establishing a parents’ network, providing advice and/or support in finding childcare, providing coaching, offer backup care for when usual care solutions fail, and onsite childcare support.
