Whitepaper: OC Tanner: ‘5 Culture Trends for 2019’

OC Tanner has outlined the five key culture trends it believes will be impacting businesses in 2019 – top of which is the oft-talked about lack of connection in people’s social lives.

This, it argues, makes it even more important employers have greater wellbeing policies in place. It finds:

  • Nearly half (46%) of people regularly feel lonely
  • Only 53% of people have meaningful, in-person social interactions on a daily basis
  • Only 56% of people feel a sense of belonging in the workplace

Given this fact, the Culture Trends report finds employers need to do much more to promote happiness, by making sure HR technology is more seamless; and for workplaces to ‘switch from engagement’ and instead talk about creating ‘employee experiences’.

It also argues firms should act now, as they'll likely be forced into it anyway, as more millennials enter the workplace. It reveals 64% of millennias want to make the workplace a better place to be.
