Government papers: Consultation outcome Draft Occupational Pension Schemes (Master Trusts) Regulations 2018

The government has responded to its consultation into the draft regulations for the authorisation and supervisory regime for master trust schemes.

Master Trust regulations 3

The majority of the responses welcomed the authorisation and supervisory regime and agreed that, overall, the Master Trust market is not currently adequately regulated. There were some challenges on policy approach to some aspects of the regulations, some drafting and minor technical points, and requests for clarification. The draft regulations have been amended where appropriate.

The main provisions and overall approach outlined in the consultation have not been amended. The government intends to lay the draft regulations before Parliament in time to come into force on 1 October 2018.

The original consultation can be found here.
