Emma Ward of DHL Supply Chain on the need for workplace support for those experiencing menopause
Ward explains that, although the workforce of around 37,000 people is 70% male, they still experience the menopause as line managers, colleagues and family members outside work.
“We know from research that menopause and peri-menopause, impacts everybody, whether you directly got through it or you know somebody who is going through it,” explains Ward. “So it’s really important that we have the support, but we also have the awareness.”
She adds that they’ve been really emphasising the awareness of menopause in the business, and highlighting to line managers how to support employees.
Ward attended REBA’s exclusive Workplace gender health: from fertility to menopause breakfast in association with AXA Health. The event welcomed reward, benefits, wellbeing and diversity, equity & inclusion specialists to discuss workplace gender health, with a particular focus on menopause and fertility.
