Government papers: Protecting defined benefit pension schemes – a stronger Pensions Regulator

This consultation sets out plans to improve The Pension Regulator’s (TPR) powers and increase the protections for defined benefit scheme members.

Protecting defined benefit pension schemes – a stronger Pensions Regulator 1

It proposes that TPR’s powers should be widened so that they can:

  • be more proactive and get involved earlier when employers make changes which could affect the pension scheme
  • obtain the right information about a scheme and its sponsoring employer
  • get redress for members if things go wrong.

The consultation closes at 11:45pm on 21 August 2018.
