Rachael Tate, HR director at National Fostering Group spoke during the REBA Congress spotlight session on The transparency trade-off: is there a perfect pay structure?

Tate provided an employer perspective on how pay structures can be evolved and salary ranges rebalanced to improve fairness, strengthen consistency and address historic inequities.

The talk explored the strategic thinking behind this work, the challenges of managing expectation and engagement, and how reward leaders can use data, governance and senior-level buy-in to make difficult pay decisions and build a more equitable framework for progression.

As part of her session she produced a HR leaders guide to Building a fair and sustainable pay framework. This practical, step-by-step guide outlines how to create pay frameworks that drive fairness, performance and long-term value.
