Hymans Robertson report: Employee Financial Stress Survey
Based on responses from 2,000 working UK adults, the survey shows employer support has grown significantly over the past year.
Yet almost a third of employees who have access to that support indicate it does not feel relevant to their needs. Some groups, particularly women and Gen X employees, are being left further behind than workforce averages suggest.

- 42% of UK employees are now financially vulnerable, up from 36% in 2025.
- 54% of employees say their employer offers financial wellbeing support, but 31% of those cannot say it feels relevant to them.
- 68% of financially stressed employees say it affects their motivation or engagement at work.
- 49% of women are financially vulnerable, compared with 35% of men.
