Reward strategies are coming under pressure from an array of sources, from rising costs and inflation to compliance needs and talent retention.

The rising cost of employment – thanks to increases in the National Minimum Wage and National Insurance – coupled with cost-of-living pressures from employees, is putting considerable strain on reward budgets, adding to concerns around pay compression.

Other legislation changes, such as the European Pay Transparency Directive, are also shining a light on reward policies and talent progression, while Board scrutiny of budgets and skills shortages are compounding pressures on reward teams.

Together these challenges mean that employers’ pay and reward strategy will need to adapt.

REBA's Reward Trends Survey 2027 aims to explore how employers are progressing their strategies and managing current pay pressures. It covers three core areas:

  1. The redesigning of pay structures in the face of skills-based progression and pay compression.
  2. How employers are adapting pay and benefits policies to manage upcoming legal mandates and compliance such as day one Statutory Sick Pay and pay transparency.
  3. Ways of measuring reward return on investment, using predictive AI tools and/or facing heightened board-level governance.

REBA's Reward Trends Survey 2027 offers you the opportunity to benchmark your reward strategy against 200+ leading employers.
