Scottish Widows report: Retirement Realities: Unlocking the Workplace Benefits 

Study of 2,000 UK employees finds companies which encourage the workforce to contribute above default pension rates see stronger financial performance.

The report finds that companies which provide more generous pension contributions also see a positive impact. More than two in five (41%) of UK firms which pay over 8% into their employees’ pensions report ‘very good’ financial performance.

  • 64% of UK businesses that take an active role in pensions education report ‘very good’ financial performance.  
  • 51% of UK businesses offering healthcare, 48% offering extended maternity and 39% offering paternity leave above the statutory minimum also see the best financial results. 
  • 88% of UK employees believe pension-related benefits are important to their employer’s financial performance
