OC Tanner Institute report: The 2026 State of Employee Recognition

The research is based on a global survey of 4,243 individuals across 10 countries and explores how recognition is evolving and why it has become a critical driver of employee experience, performance, and retention.

It examines what employees value most in recognition today, highlighting the growing importance of meaningful, consistent, and human recognition over purely transactional approaches.

The report also explores the role of leaders in embedding recognition into everyday work and creating cultures where people feel seen, valued, and motivated to do great work.
