Survey: UK labour market: January 2018
Key findings
- There were 32.21 million people in work, 102,000 more than for June to August 2017 and 415,000 more than a year earlier.
- Latest estimates show that average weekly earnings for employees in nominal terms (that is, not adjusted for price inflation) increased by 2.5 per cent including bonuses, and by 2.4 per cent excluding bonuses, compared with a year earlier.
- Average weekly earnings in real terms (adjusted for price inflation) fell by 0.2 per cent including bonuses, and fell by 0.5 per cent excluding bonuses, compared with a year earlier.
These ONS figures relate to the period between June to August 2017 and September to November 2017.
