ABI Report: Supporting the Nation’s Workforce

Subtitled ‘The role of health and protection insurance’, this report presents the latest gathered data on people in the UK using health and protection insurance.

In 2023, 2.2 million people used insurer-provided health services, accessing services 10.3 million times across the year. This figure represents a 23% increase compared to the previous year (1.8 million people), and a 22% jump in accessing services (8.4 million times in 2022).

The report highlights that ongoing patterns of economic inactivity due to long-term sickness reflect both the rising need for health prevention and intervention, and structural gaps in the support currently available.
