Report: Insight into the nation’s financial wellbeing

To better understand people’s relationships with money, Aegon’s Centre for Behavioural Research asked 10,466 UK residents a series of questions to ascertain the UK’s financial health. The report identifies the drivers and roadblocks to financial wellbeing.

Report: Insight into the nation’s financial wellbeing 1

Key findings:

  • More than half (55%) and just under two-fifths (37%) of top earners worry about money
  • Four in 10 have less than £100 to spend each month
  • Only one third (33%) of those on the lowest income thought about what gives them most joy in life, compared to just under half (48%) of top earners

The report found that improving the UK’s financial wellbeing will require more than just money, but also joy and a focus on the future. If organisations want to encourage financial wellness amongst their employees, they must ensure they have considered what they are spending money on and whether it brings true happiness.
