Tiina Hoffman of Firstbeat on how helping employees improve sleep improves productivity

Tiina Hoffman, exercise physiologist and master trainer at Firstbeat, considers how to use  data to unlock better employee wellbeing and performance.

Speaking at REBA's Employee Wellbeing Congress, Hoffman considered the importance of sleep in relation to productivity, and how employers can help ensure employees are taking enough rest to ensure they are at their best at work.

Firstbeat data showed that those who take exercise and recovery moments had better sleep which in turn meant they were able to be more productive. Hoffman added that this is an area where employers can help improve sleep by encouraging employees to take breaks and small amounts of exercise during the working day. Thus improving motivation and productivity.

"The company culture needs to support this, it needs to be OK for everyone to take a break," she added.
