Video tutorial: Why MI is essential and the potential of AI exciting when it comes to benefits

MI and AI offer exciting opportunities that businesses simply can’t afford to ignore when it comes to tailoring benefits, according to Toria McCahill, associate HR director group functions and reward at BGL Group.

Speaking at the REBA Innovation Day 2017 McCahill said that she uses MI for everything. “I use MI to really drive what my decisions are,” she said.

Employers should also be braver when asking questions about their staff to harness more personal information from them – such as what they do in their spare time and dependents – that will enable them to better tailor benefits to them, she said. “That makes MI sexy because you can tailor needs to the organisation,” she said.

AI also offers huge potential, she said. “I used to be petrified of it, but no longer does this scare me it really excites me,” she said.

Presenting alongside McCahill meanwhile Lloyd Taylor, director of global reward at Sage, presented a new tool his company had created in order to better link reward with company strategy. He encouraged delegates to use simple, free tools such as Google Analytics that he said helped show how people interacted with the company’s app and website and where focus and emphasis should be.

This video tutorial was recorded at the REBA Innovation Day which took place on 23 November 2017.
