Research: Aon Benefits & Trends Survey 2019

Aon has released its annual ‘Benefits & Trends Survey: 2019’.

AON Benefits & Trends Survey 2019 1

Now in its 9th year, the report is one of the most definitive publications in the benefits space, featuring detailed results of many questions asked annually (for year-on-year trends). In addition to this though, new for 2019 are new questions asked around the impact benefits make to the employee value proposition, as well as questions on healthcare and risk benefits and online and flexible benefits.

Key findings for this year include:

  • Interest in adopting a global benefits strategy is not borne out by action: 72% say they are working towards this, but only 13.5% say they have a single benefits platform
  • The role of the employer is increasing: Some 76% of employers agree they are responsible for influencing employee health and changing behaviours
  • More could be done to communicate benefits: While 53% of employers regard benefits engagement as being extremely important, 70% of them spend less than £5,000 per year on communication efforts
