Research: Mercer - Solving The Mental Health Epidemic

Mental health has numerous causes. Two-thirds of all employees say their mental health and wellbeing is affected by their personal job security, while a staggering 90% of people in their 20s say their mental health is affected by the sheer cost of living.

Mercer: Solving The Mental Health Epidemic 1

In light of these and other issues (including stress), Mercer has produced the results of its research into solving the mental health epidemic.

Included in the findings is:

  • The worrying statistic that 64% of managers admit they have had to put the interests of their organisation above that of staff wellbeing
  • The fact 43% of people earning £25,000 or less have a mental health diagnosis, compared to 25% of those earning more than £70,000

The research explains Mercer’s own ‘Eight Dimensions of Wellbeing’ and how other employers could use them to help solve some of their own wellbeing issues.
