Thomas Joy benefits manager at NatWest Group on breaking the money talk stigma

Thomas Joy pensions and benefits manager and Sharon Midwinter benefits lead at NatWest Group discussed at REBA's Employee Wellbeing Congress how the company is breaking the stigma of talking about money and supporting colleagues through the Covid-19 crisis.

'There is a stigma, for people who work for a bank, about talking about money management. They can feel nervous about discussing struggle around money when they are meant to be helping customers with their own money. But that is far from the case we want our colleagues to be able to put their hands up and ask for help,' said Thomas.

He added that to break down the stigma NatWest has found sharing colleague stories has been one of the most successful ways to encourage people to open up and talk about money management issues.
