Vitrue Health report: The hidden driver of burnout: Why MSK pain matters even more than you think?

This survey of 1,129 working adults reveals that pain is significantly linked to higher burnout - and the relationship is stronger than age, gender, or job role.

It finds that the biggest increase in burnout appears when pain moves from low to moderate - a critical point for early intervention.

  • Employees with moderate to high pain report burnout scores up to 14% higher than their pain-free colleagues, with the steepest jump occurring when pain moves from low to moderate levels.
  • Employees with pain reported significantly higher burnout than those without it - 2.38 vs. 2.19.
  • The data suggests burnout should be addressed not only through mental health support, but also through physical risk reduction and better work design.
