Zest report: Life in the Law - enhancing employee support in the legal sector

This report explores how legal professionals experience their employee benefits, and where law firms are falling short.

This research from Zest on enhancing employee support in the legal sector found that legal workers report the poorest health and wellbeing of any sector surveyed, with lawyers rating their own wellbeing at just 6/10.

Based on Opinium research with 2,000 UK workers, the findings show a widening gap between what firms offer and what employees need.

Two thirds (66%) feel overwhelmed by their workload, yet only 43% believe they get value for money from their benefits, and half (50%) call their package inadequate. The retention risk is real: 36% would consider changing sectors for better benefits.

  • Which benefits legal professionals want most, from private medical insurance (40%) to increased pension contributions (36%) and salary sacrifice (24%)
  • Why so many lawyers feel unsupported, and what's behind low awareness and take-up of benefits
  • How reward leaders can use better communication, personalisation and technology to close the gap.
