Juliet Edmonds of Orange on driving a corporate culture that has a focus on DEI targets

Juliet Edmonds, director of reward, Europe at Orange, speaks with REBA's Debi O'Donovan in this video interview about how the telecoms company is linking diversity, equality and inclusion (DEI) targets to HR practices and policies.

Edmonds explains that in 2019 Orange signed a Worldwide Agreement on gender equality in the workplace with its social partners. The Agreement, which applies across the whole of the Orange Group, covers three main themes: equality in the workplace, work life balance and combatting discrimination and violence.

“In support of the Worldwide Agreement Orange launched comprehensive communication campaigns externally and internally, which included news articles and interviews with business sponsors in order to promote awareness of DEI topics,” Edmonds says.

She goes on to explain how it is adapting its reward practices to drive a corporate culture that has a focus on DEI targets.

Edmonds attended REBA’s exclusive Transforming engagement: aligning corporate culture with human values breakfast in association with Mercer Marsh Benefits. It brought together senior reward professionals from an array of sectors to discuss rising values – such as having a purpose, being sustainable, aiming for environmental targets, and promoting DEI and wellbeing – and examine whether these link into organisational culture and responsible reward and benefits in today’s corporations.

Accompanying the Transforming Engagement Series are three reports that will provide the context and practical steps needed to meet the challenge of transforming organisational culture into one that engages employees and reduces people risks. Report three will be available in the autumn.
