Video tutorial: Now you see me! Reviewing family support for a hybrid world of work

During the pandemic, there has been a revolution in the visibility of family life, as home working has taken employers into their employees’ homes. As a result, there has been a change in expectations among working parents and carers around the involvement of employers in family life, says Jennifer Liston-Smith, head of thought leadership, Bright Horizons Work+Family Solutions.

She suggests organisations take three steps: benchmark parental leave policies through surveys; make hybrid working work for parents, careers and the gender pay gap; consider and support the ongoing life stages of working parents and carers.

“As we move into the hybrid working we world it’s vital we don’t leave behind people whose responsibilities pull against the everyday realities and that we keep parents and carers in mind as one of the many groups to consider in our talent population,” Liston-Smith said.
