Report: Women and the Economy: A House of Commons briefing paper
The paper reveals there are now a total of 15.3 million women over the age of 16 in-work, with the employment rate amongst women hitting 71.4% (compared to 80.3% for men).
But data on amount of pay and employment type reveals female workers are still more likely to be in low-paid, temporary work. It finds:
- 41% of women in employment were working part-time compared to 13% of men
- Median weekly pay for female full-time employees was £509, compared to £609 for male full-time employees
