Statistics on female employment, including type of employment, and level of pay, are just some of the detail to be found in the latest 'Women and the Economy' House of Commons briefing paper published this month.

The paper reveals there are now a total of 15.3 million women over the age of 16 in-work, with the employment rate amongst women hitting 71.4% (compared to 80.3% for men).

But data on amount of pay and employment type reveals female workers are still more likely to be in low-paid, temporary work. It finds:

  • 41% of women in employment were working part-time compared to 13% of men
  • Median weekly pay for female full-time employees was £509, compared to £609 for male full-time employees
