Cancer continues to be one of the leading causes of death in the UK, with the NHS predicting one in two people will develop some form of cancer in their lifetime.  

Since the end of lockdown in December 2021, the cancer waiting times data from NHS England has confirmed a sharp decline in the percentage of urgent cancer referrals being diagnosed and treated within government targets.

This has led to an increase in patients using the private sector to investigate cancer symptoms, as well as an increasing number of companies exploring how best to step into this healthcare gap and support employees.

There is a clear opportunity for employers to continue to invest in expanding the coverage of their healthcare benefits.
