Debi O’Donovan's state of the nation: workplace pensions

REBA Co-Founder and Director Debi O’Donovan explores the key trends that have shaped current pensions policy and that will drive workplace pensions in the future

In a state-of-the-nation talk at REBA's Future of Pensions Summit on 21st September 2023, REBA's Debi O’Donovan explored the key factors that will shape the future direction of defined contribution (DC) pensions.

“There are still disparities in pensions. While auto-enrolment has been a fantastic start, on average values are just not big enough and won’t give private sector DC savers what they need in the future," she cautioned.

“DC assets are predicted to be £1trn by 2030 – every pension provider, consultant and expert is aware of the enormity of that figure. What will providers and consultants need to tell employers in the future and what will employers need to bear in mind with that much money coming through pensions?

“One important question is what is value? There are good schemes in the market today from a value for money perspective, but not yet for all.”

Watch the video to find out more about insights and key industry trends affecting the future of the pensions market.
