International Women’s Day - Equal pay and gender pay gap

Today is International Women’s Day, and this year’s theme is #BalanceforBetter. The campaign is a timely reminder that building a more gender-balanced world is not a female issue: it is, in fact, a business and moral priority, and everyone has a part to play.

 Indeed, HR professionals and reward specialists like us are key to helping organisations achieve gender equality. We need to help business leaders understand the reasons behind the gender pay gap, and ensure that they do not fall foul of equal pay legislation.

 Our infographic explains the difference between equal pay and the gender pay gap, a distinction that sometimes gets muddied in media coverage. With the 2019 gender pay gap reporting deadline less than a month away, we hope the graphic provides clarity on this often complex topic.
