The productivity puzzle from Barnett Waddingham on Vimeo.
He explains how UK workforces are not efficient and the impact of low skilled and low paid jobs have on productivity. He also says that productivity is around wellbeing, and for his company, the concept of wellbeing is happiness. "There's academic studies that suggested that happier workplace could be up to 12% more productive,’’ says Stancombe.
With this in mind, Stancombe reflects upon the start of his career and the design of benefits. "If I go back to the start of my career 26 years ago, the concept of benefits the design of benefits hasn't really changed too much. But what we have seen obviously is increasing absenteeism, increasing workplace stress, increasing mental stress.’’ He says that in order to be productive it is important to gain the right balance – meeting both the employer and employee needs.
