Laura Jackson of Credit Suisse on the value of employee networks to support wellbeing

Laura Jackson, EMEA head of benefits, payroll and wellbeing at Credit Suisse, discusses their Wellbeing and Care Network.

"With wellbeing it's about understanding that different people have very different needs, we can't always pre-define or predetermine what those might be. We can put headline topics around it [wellbeing] but you really need people to give it a flavour," she says.

She adds that the Network has been really useful in understanding what individuals want to be educated on and what activities they're looking for.

This video was filmed prior to the coronavirus outbreak. However, we caught up with Jackson who explained that the Network has been a really useful tool in supporting employees' wellbeing during lockdown.

"The Wellbeing and Care Network has sent out a special COVID Morale Boosting Bulletin which included a reminder about our 100+ trained Mental Health First Aiders (MHFAs), tips on working from home and fine-tuning your home office, some light-hearted bonding activities that leverage modern technology for people to stay connected, and a section on exploring the many good reasons to volunteer in the community," she says.

Other initiatives launched via the Network since lockdown began include a book club looking at a nominated title from its wellbeing book library, virtual lunchtime meditation sessions and a rota of MHFAs set up for the Easter weekend to also be on hand to assist people.
