Video: REBA Innovation Day 2016: Samsung's success story when it comes to financial wellness

Human interaction is still key and should be used to complement a technology-based benefits platform, David Dodd, consulting director at Thomsons Online Benefits, told delegates at the REBA Innovation Day 2016.

Human interaction is still key and should be used to complement a technology-based benefits platform, David Dodd, consulting director at Thomsons Online Benefits, told delegates at the REBA Innovation Day 2016.

Dodd spoke alongside Samsung’s head of reward Jo Bean to reveal how to best use a technology platform as a central hub to manage and communicate such programmes. The two companies have worked together for around five years.

“This isn’t just about money or just about health it’s the overarching concept of looking after our employees the best we can in the ways that are most suited to them,” said Bean.

Guiding delegates through a range of options offered by Samsung Bean said face-to-face was key as a supplement to the technology. “We spend a lot of time talking face-to-face to our employees but also use our technology to enable them to be able to access the information when they want to and when they need to and when it’s most pertinent,” said Bean.

Dodd said the example provided by Samsung was key in showing that an element of human interaction is still key. “What Samsung have done so well is they have incorporated both. They have not only had the tech platform to actually leverage from and embed most of this but have also got likes of Jo and her team who are on the ground making sure this actually works,” said Dodd.
