Video tutorial: How Virgin Atlantic has aligned benefits to meet wellbeing objectives

By combining the expertise of occupational health with benefits management Virgin Atlantic has been able to better align its benefits provision to meet its wellbeing objectives.

Presenting a case study into their work at the Employee Wellbeing Congress 2018, Dani Brackpool, benefits manager at Virgin Atlantic and Josie Lazenby, senior manager for occupational health and wellbeing, said that working together had paid dividends.

Lazenby used the example of the company undergoing its renewals process for its income protection provision and private medical insurance provision.

“Dani previously as benefits manager would have solely managed this process but as we were working closely together Dani brought her expertise in the management of that process whereas I would bring the health, the data the real life people bit to the scenario. That enabled us to hone down the service we wanted for our employees,” she said.

Brackpool explained how the duo had identified common drivers to work towards and had held a series of workshops to steer and manage the change. The pair outlined how they drove the change by working closely with the company’s leadership team to highlight the positive impact of wellbeing within the business and explained the practical changes to benefits they made as a result.

This video was recorded at the Employee Wellbeing Congress 2018, held in London on 5 July.
