The overarching theme in this year's global talent trends report from Mercer was how technology advances are re-shaping how work gets done. It also looks at how changing demographics and shifting expectations are challenging traditional views of what it means to go to work.

Key findings:

  • Nearly all employees said they want to be recognised and rewarded for a wider range of contributions.
  • 80% of employers made some change to their approach to performance management in 2016.
  • Nearly half of employees want more focus on health and wellness.
  • 51% of employees want more flexible work options.

The study gathered input from more than 400 senior executives, 1,700 HR professionals, and 5,400 employees from 20 industries and 37 countries around the world.
