Report: Accelerated approaches to employee reward, wellbeing and engagement

A total of 332 HR and reward professionals across the UK, working in multinational organisations with multi-country responsibility and across a range of sectors, took part in the online survey for this research in Q1 2021

Report: Accelerated approaches to employee reward, wellbeing and engagement 1

During the pandemic HR and benefit teams were under immense pressure to keep their workforces engaged, supported, connected and cared for. Mercer's report found that while 70% said their employee experience changed as a result of Covid-19, only half felt their employee experience changed for the better.

Key findings

  • The majority of employers (88%) believed they had offered the benefits needed to support their employees during the pandemic. However, just over half (55%) of their employees felt the same way

  • Over one third (36%) increased provision of mental wellbeing support during the pandemic

  • Three fifths (60%) said their company’s investment in employee health and wellbeing become a higher-priority in the future, compared to where it is today

The report, which surveyed 332 HR and reward professionals across the UK, found that nearly 90% of employers believed they had met their strategic objectives and had provided the right benefit offerings during the pandemic.
