REBA Wellbeing Awards: Visionary - António Horta-Osório CEO, Lloyds Banking Group
The team at REBA, in discussion with many influential contacts in the industry, has awarded this to António Horta-Osório, CEO, Lloyds Banking Group, who has made wellbeing a key focus at Lloyds Banking Group, and has been very honest in sharing his own personal experiences of mental ill health.
At our awards Janet Pope, Chief of Staff and Group Director at Lloyds, accepted the Award on Mr Horta-Osório’s behalf.
Mr Horta-Osório has encouraged a culture of openness around mental health throughout the organisation and helped to build resilience in his senior management team through a combination of physical factors (such as sleep and nutrition support), mindfulness and analysis.
That same approach to wellbeing has also been rolled out to other managers within the group, so that they can support members of their own teams if they are struggling. Every employee is encouraged to be open about their mental wellbeing and to feel that they can seek support from colleagues as well as participating in support programmes.
Mr Horta-Osório is a prominent campaigner for employers to support their employees’ health and shrug off the stigma of mental health issues, not just within Lloyds Banking Group, but also in the wider business community and society as a whole.
