Video tutorial: Benivo's Brian Friedmen on disruptive technology for pre-boarding engagement

Using new technology to help engage new employees in an organisation’s culture before they even start can have a huge impact on motivation, according to Brian Friedman, strategy director at Benivo.

“Our mission is to make every employee welcome,” Friedman told delegates at the REBA Innovation Day in a disruptor session at the event.

Offering dedicated resources for pre-boarding can really help, he said. “When you are starting work there’s only really one question you need to know the answer to and that’s what do people like me do? That’s all any new employee wants to know. Our solution answers that question,” he said.

Such information could range from neighbourhood tips such as where to live or understanding good restaurants and jogging routes through to answering questions about office culture.

The information collected comes through social insights but the platform also allows the creation of communities, connecting other new joiners under the company umbrella and brand, according to Friedman.

He said Benivo looked to help its clients’ new employees engage emotionally, digitally, physically and financially with their new company. The offer includes welcome packs that comprise a guide to where they are going as well as gifts. “It’s a very good way to engage tangibly with them,” he said. Benivo also offers its clients’ employees a six month interest-free loan to pay their deposit when they move into a new town, he said.

This video was recorded at the REBA Innovation Day 2018, held in London on 22 November.
