Legal & General's Colin Fitzgerald: What employers need to know about trends in the group risk market

Colin Fitzgerald, chair of GRiD and Legal & General sales director, sits down with REBA content director Jo Gallacher to discuss trends in the group risk market and how employers can best prepare for future challenges.

Fitzgerald said: "We have seen a worsening in death in service claims and life insurance claims as a result of the pandemic so premiums have increased slightly and we have seen an improvement in group IP [income protection] premiums.

"Those are short to medium term impact, but ultimately you've got a client wrestling with a finite budget whereby they've got to try and balance that to stay within the budgets if they can."
