Prevention – the buzzword for 2025?
It’s been a packed year with more changes and innovations than the reward and benefits industry has seen in a while – and there are even more to come next year.
As we look ahead to 2025 there’s one word that keeps cropping up- prevention.
Prevention has always been important. After all, we all want healthy and productive workforces.
But it feels this is taking on greater weight.
People are not as well as they once were. As REBA found in its Societal Health Trilogy, the UK is experiencing record levels of working days lost because of sickness or injury– an estimated 185.6 million working days in 2022.
While 3.7 million working-age people are in work with a health condition that is ‘work-limiting’.
This is having a massive impact on the workplace in terms of productivity, retention and benefits costs.
So it’s perhaps no surprise that prevention will be a key area of focus for reward and benefits professionals in the year ahead.
It’s also a key theme that runs throughout REBA’s tenth annual Health & Wellbeing Survey, as we seek to understand just how employers are putting prevention strategies in place.
So far, more than 200 companies including B&Q, Beazley Management, Diageo, EDF, Fujitsu, Inchcape and Wolseley UK have taken part.
