Sally Earnshaw of Gallagher on changing mindsets to boost employee wellbeing

Sally Earnshaw, managing director, culture change consulting at Gallagher, spoke at REBA's Employee Wellbeing Congress about organisations' need to create a culture that boosts employees' mindsets and behaviours so they can deliver their best performance.

Earnshaw asserted that the biggest impact on an employee's wellbeing is their line manager.

"The quality of leadership in your organisation will define fundamentally the wellbeing of your employees. We are seeing a worrying trend where initiatives are being used to paper over the some of the cultural cracks that need to be fixed in order to really create an organisation where employees thrive," she said.

She added that, while there is so much change taking place in the workplace, particularly post lockdown, employers can help employees change their mindset through changing the way they view situations and being more adaptable in order to deal with the changing workplace landscape.
