Practicing what we preach: REBA receives Living Wage accreditation

We’re very proud to announce that REBA has received accreditation as a Living Wage Employer.

Our Living Wage commitment will see everyone working at the Reward & Employee Benefits Association (REBA) receive a minimum hourly wage of £9.30 in the UK or £10.75 in London. Both rates are significantly higher than the government minimum for over 25s, which currently stands at £8.21 per hour.

The real Living Wage is the only rate calculated according to the costs of living. It provides a voluntary benchmark for employers that wish to ensure their staff earn a wage they can live on, not just the government minimum.

Debi O’Donovan, director and co-founder of REBA, explained why it is important for REBA to be a Living Wage Employer.

“Firstly, we at REBA want to treat our employees and contractors with fairness and dignity. One way to do this is to pay them properly. Secondly, we may be a tiny employer, but that should not stop us pursuing best practice in our own reward policies. Thirdly, if we are to be the club for reward professionals, we need to strive to be an organisation employers can be proud to belong to.”

As an organisation that champions employee wellbeing we are very proud to be part of the movement of nearly 6,000 responsible employers across the UK who voluntarily commit to go further than the government minimum to make sure all their staff earn enough to live on.
