Video tutorial: Personal Group's David Walker reveals wellbeing facts to prompt you to act now
Speaking at the Employee Wellbeing Congress 2018 he revealed a series of 30 facts that he said were designed to give shape and provoke thoughts into how companies deal with their employee wellbeing. He added that changes are coming, and gave examples such as virtual GPs to the increased pressure of mental health issues.
However, he also pointed out that sometimes the most basic of tactics can work best in terms of employee wellbeing approaches. Quoting writer, broadcaster and psychotherapist Lucy Beresford, he said: “Often the most important thing that you can do in an entire wellbeing programme is just to listen. Sometimes it’s the most base level. We just need to listen.”
He urged delegates to invest in an EAP, drive up awareness and bring such programmes alive to deal with emotional wellbeing. Walker also discussed financial wellbeing and the impact that it can have on wider wellbeing.
Engaging staff is vital, he said, referring to the company’s Business of Engagement Report. “Engagement and wellbeing go hand in hand. It’s a business opportunity not an HR issue,” he said.
This video was recorded at the Employee Wellbeing Congress 2018, held in London on 5 July.
