Video tutorial: Willis Towers Watson on three key things needed to build a resilient workplace

Leadership, management and culture are key to building a resilient workplace, according to Gaby Joyner, senior director at Willis Towers Watson and Olga Skouteli, employee experience consultant.

Speaking at the Employee Wellbeing Congress 2018, the pair explained the importance of leaders and managers. “Leaders play a critical role in ensuring that employees are well, engaged and motivated,” said Joyner.

“Resilience is a mechanism for prevention,” says Skouteli. She said companies need to focus on developing healthier ways of working. She defined resilience as an inner strength to deal with problems and be able to bounce back.

An openness to talk and discuss wellbeing, to make it normal in the workplace, was vital the pair said. They gave practical examples of what they have already done with clients.

This video was recorded at the Employee Wellbeing Congress 2018, held in London on 5 July.
