DHL's Dana Citron: How the logistics company has saved 20% on its employer-funded health costs

Dana Citron, director, global health and wellbeing at DHL Group sits down with REBA content director Jo Gallacher to discuss DHL's novel approach to mitigate its costs of employer-funded health and how to encourage employees to better prioritise their health

Citron spoke at REBA’s Future of Workplace Health & Protection Summit on 6 March 2024 about the steps DHL has taken since 2015 to manage rises in healthcare costs.

She said: "We put in a proactive strategy because we're an insurance captor so we take on our own risks, and what that means is that we set the pricing. Back in 2015 we started a process where we were basically building the business case for the local HRs.

"We said if we do nothing, we know healthcare costs are going to go up exponentially year over year so we need to do something to try to bend the trend in terms of the medical claims."
